 CPEC Gateway: Jaglot-Skardu Road inaugurated

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday inaugurated the strategic Jaglot-Skardu Road, which is a major link between Karakoram Highway (KKH) and Skardu, a tourism, trekking and expedition hub in Gilgit Baltistan (GB).

GB is a gateway to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Jaglot-Skardu Road is a major link between KKH and Skardu. The opening of this road will boost tourism and economic activities in the region and beyond.

The Government had initiated the “Upgradation and Widening of Jaglot-Skardu Road (167 km)”, which the Prime Minister inaugurated today.

Beside Jaglot-Skardu Road, Prime Minister Imran Khan also inaugurated Skardu International Airport. “Big thing has happened in Skardu today; these projects will change the life of local people and I can imagine it,” said the Prime Minister while addressing a public rally. The completion of Jaglot-Skardu road reduced travel time between Skardu and Gilgit from eight hours to three hours.

The construction of Jaglot-Skardu Road was initiated by WFO in August 2017; the project will provide comfortable road ride to locals as well as tourists by increasing the width of road from 3.6 to 7.3 meter and reducing the sharp curves.
